È con questa canzone di Akon (che verrà inclusa nel suo prossimo album) nata grazie alla collaborazione di Michael Jackson che il 2008 sente di nuovo la voce del cantante americano più famoso di tutti i tempi. Il nuovo album come sappiamo del Re del Pop dovrebbe uscire quest'anno, intanto Jackson ci regala un'anticipazione prendendo parte a questa canzone."Hold my hand" (ascolta) è una canzone nello stile più lento di Akon, con ben poche influenze che lo possano mettere al primo posto tra le dancefloor hits. Nonostante questo la canzone rimane di piacevole ascolto, con un arrangiamento che prevede un numero importante di cori e archi ma anche qualche nota di piano che rende il tutto decisamente più ascoltabile che ballabile.
La voce di Jackson, è quella dei suoi tempi migliori, rimasta immutata anche dopo anni di controversie e questo i fan di sicuro lo apprezzeranno, soprattutto ricordando hit come "We are the world" oppure "Heal the world", quindi con una delicatezza vocale decisamente notevole.
