Alicia Keys "Empire state of mind (part II) / Broken down"

Tutto è nato da una delle canzoni hip hop più belle del momento, merito non solo di Jay-Z ma anche di una splendida Alicia Keys che canta quel "Nuuuu Yoooork..." divenuto ormai in inno ad una città che ha dato i natali ad entrambi gli artisti ma che gode da sempre di un fascino incontrastato. Poi è stato il turno del video clip in cui il rapper americano quasi passa in secondo piano sopraffatto dalle splendide immagini di New York, che sia alternano prima in bianco e nero giungendo a colori verso la fine del video.
Poi i rumors, la conferma definitiva e adesso la buona notizia. Si chiamerà "Empire state of mind (part II) / Broken down" (ascolta) la versione di questa hit curata da Alicia Keys, contenuta in "Element of freedom". Sarà il quarto singolo estratto dall'album ed è pronto ad uscire il 22 Febbraio 2010 in versione radiofonica e sicuramente con un videoclip musicale.

Alicia Keys pur non stravolgendo il bellissimo ritornello ha creato qualcosa di interamente suo, non è solo una versione acustica con l'aiuto del pianoforte ma anche una piacevole sorpresa nel finale che presenta molto più del il conosciuto "Nuuuu Yoooork...". Insomma penso una delle tracce più belle di questo album, che pur riprendendo qualcosa di già conosciuto è riuscito ad operare in modo da rendere il tutto più Alicia-like, perfettamente in linea con le sue canzoni più romantiche.
