Dopo "Love lockdown" questa volta vi voglio far notare un altro singolo tratto dall'ultimo album di Kanye West, "808s & Heartbreak".Come per l'intero album e il singolo precedente anche in questo caso West continua l'uso dell'auto tune, strumento che riesce a modificare e distorcere la voce rendendo il tutto decisamente metallico non privo di un certo fascino.
"Heartless" (ascolta) è formata da elementi decisamente semplici, voce, qualche percussione, una sorta di zuffolo che scandisce le battute e un piano che ogni tanto fa capolino tra le sonorità più elettroniche. Ancora una volta Kanye prosegue la via della sperimentazione musicale più estrema, con sonorità che si discostano da quelle del resto della musica hip-hop, anni luce distante da quello che abbiamo sentito nel suo precedente album "Graduation". Un passo avanti per questo genere musicale che si avvicina a sonorità elettroniche senza comunque smentire le proprie radici.
Un ottimo disco, correlato da un video decisamente originale, che si avvale della tecnica chiamata rotoscope (o rotoscopio) che permette di creare cartoni animati ricalcando però riprese con persone reali, realizzando così immagini decisamente realistiche.
Scendendo nei particolari curiosi anche la copertina del brano è degna di nota. Riprende infatti lo stesso stile (tranne per i colori) del primo singolo, "Love lockdown", ma essendo il titolo di questa canzone "Heartless" ("Senza cuore", ndr) manca il cuore che figurava nella precedente copertina.
